His real identity is Miguel O'Hara, a brilliant Irish- Mexican geneticist living in Nueva York (a renamed New York City) in the year 2099 who attempts to re-create the abilities of the original Spider-Man in other people and later suffers a related accident that causes half of his DNA to be rewritten with a spider's genetic code. Spider-Man tries to convince the Scorpion that they are on the same side, and that he too wants to free Tiberius Stone, but the Scorpion does not care if he wants to annihilate him (obviously he believes him to be the Spider-Man of his time).
